Re: Trapper...
the main thing is i only eat at night. i have basically one meal, but it may consist of several courses - fruit(oranges are in and i love fuji apples, organic of course), lots of times organic salad using romaine or spinach or those packaged mixes, i try to eat lots of cilantro so i will embellish a canned organic salsa with lots of raw garlic and cilantro and onions(the hotter the better), owens cilantro pesto is a favorite of mine, i usually munch on a handful of raw nuts, brazil and local pecans being in the larder right now, i am oil pulling during the day like a half dozen times and eating a tablespoon or two of organic olive oil just before bed, i am experiminting right now with cayenne and horseraddish in vegcaps and plan to expand that to turmeric and hawthorne berry, i supplement my minerals with mrs. barefoot when i think of it, and when my wife cooks around the house i might have a small meal of it just for bonding sake with the family. i crave hot foods sometimes so i keep a can or two of organic pintos around for a treat or i will do a few organic eggs over easy. neither one of those seem to do me much good or bother me that much, but they sure taste good and they make better cheats than twinkies.
what would i like to be doing? i would like to be
juicing more, especially carrots and wheatgrass. the main reason i dont is my home life is just not conducive to it. i dont have an exercise regimen but i am more active around the house than i have been in years. i play with the kids and dog a lot. i sing and play guitar. this damn computer is one of the most unhealthy things i do - stationary and basking in the emf is not my idea of a healthy lifestyle. in the summer i get at least an hour a day of full body sun(average).
my wife and i went out last night and she found money in the budget for pf chang's. i had a wonderful meal of chengdu lamb(12.95), spicy green beans(4.95), two shots of 18 year old glenmorangie single malt scotch(9.95 each), and two bottles of chilled tuscany s.peligrino distilled water(2.95 each). there is something about lamb that i really like. i know, i know, dont tell me. i eat very little meat any more, being especially disgusted with what is done in this country to cattle and chickens. and swine? be my guest, but no thanks.
afterwards we went to kemper arena in downtown kansas city and saw 61 year old bob seger wear his fat ass out on stage. it was sad, really. the band was hot as a 4th of july sparkler and tight as the braids on my fourth grade crush. they played two sets with a break in between and then came out fo two encores. the first set was the best. bob had lots of energy and spent it with abandon. the songs were half new ones and half old ones that didnt tax his voice. every nuance was there, the music was spot on to the records, and his signature voice was just as you would imagine it.
after the break it went downhill fast. two more preachy old fart new songs saying basically so what if your old and fat and ugly, keep on rockin! uh, yea. then he pulled from his fantastic catalog of songs, doing some live bullet stuff and kicking ass. but wait a minute, with the band so tight and my memory for music so good, everything being still in place and spot on correct, bob kept leaving the high notes out. and his voice got less full and more like a wheeze and a crack. the worse his voice got the more he accomodated it and the less he attempted. also, the guy running the boards was ready because the band got louder and the vocals kept going down in the mix until he was barely audible amidst the cacophony which was a well oiled and seasoned rock band.
he kept pushing it, giving us two encores, as if to say "yea, i still have what it takes at 61", when it was actually painful, in your face evidence to the contrary. but hey, most of the crowd was too old and tired to have gotten even half as far as he did, so they were most appreciative and enthusiastic to the end. "bob, hes one of us and hes still got it". again, yea.
i dont have a playlist because i dont know any of these new songs. he did most of his signature songs - night moves, against the wind, beautiful loser, betty lou, katmandu, old time rock and roll, and ramblin gamblin man to name a few. one of the obvious songs that was missing was like a rock. my first thought on this was why should he sing it without a fat check from chevy coming with it - its business, you know. but i listened to it in the car on the way home and quickly realized why he didnt sing one of his most famous songs - he cant. what a difference ten years can make.
they all looked old on stage. bob reminded me a lot of captain kangaroo, with his white hair cut the way it was. the guitarist looked like a long-haired mr greenjeans. bob had an extra large t-shirt draping over his big belly. ha, he even reached back at one point and pulled up his droopy jeans from sliding off his butt. talk about lowered expectations! of course, he could overcome all that, if he wanted to. maybe if he just knew how. oh well.
