This won't necessarily help get rid of the condition, but a much gentler toothpaste that contains flouride but does not contain sodium laurel sulfate is Biotene. It doesn't lather as much so it doesn't get all over my lips, so they don't look like hell after I brush my teeth. It also has a pleasant but subtle mint flavor, and my mouth feels clean after I use it even though the flavor isn't strong.
I was going to buy one of those all-natural toothpastes from the health food store, but I didn't like that I couldn't find one with natural ingredients that also contained flouride. I think that is an important toothpaste ingredient. Overall I thought the ingredient lists of a lot of the natural toothpastes were kind of sketchy.. I didn't know what a lot of the stuff was or why I should be brushing my teeth with that as opposed to using any other toothpaste.
