I get so tired listening to people talk about choice, what we choose and what we don't. Who the hell knows? And I get tired of hearing people talk about what God says and what he/she wants. Who the hell knows?
I know one thing for sure. I am a straight woman. But if I could choose, I would choose to be gay, becuase I am have not found men to make very good life partners for a variety of reasons. Over the years I have been stolen from, abandoned, raped, banged around, lied to, cheated on, you name it. Maybe women would not be much better, but I would like to give them a try if I could. But I am straight and there is nothing I can do about it. Women just don't turn me on in that way.
I am very aware of the New Age thought on the subject of choice, and most of them spout off about it as if they have some sort of special connection to the Universe, but there are many elevated sages who say we have no power over what happends to us in life. All we can do is attempt to control how we react to it. I am 60 and looking back over my life, I do not feel as if I went though it choosing this and choosing that. I did make decisions, but always without any knowledge of how they would turn out. I did the best I could with what I had available to me at the time.
You are hungry - so you decide to eat something, but what you choose to eat depends a great deal on what is available at the time and some people definately have more to choose from than others.
I am also tired of people being so dammn uptight about sex. Sex is not dirty. It is not evil. "God" created sex. He said to go forth and multiply according to the Bible, right? Adam and Eve were created naked if you believe that story. The apple had nothing to do with sex. It had to do with them feeling shame over their naked bodies. They discovered their nakedness - that is when they lost their innocence. Prior to that they frolicked naked in the Garden of Eden and they enjoyed each other. It was a small bunch of ancient Christian men who pinned all of this "sinfullness" on women and sex. You should read some of the stuff these old dudes had to say about women.....things like, "Let them die in childbirth...that is all they are good for". Right jolly old elfs they were.
Anyone who finds true love in this world should celebrate it. Love is always a cause for celebration Two people who truly and unselfishly love each other is indeed a rare thing. The main thread that runs through most human relationshps is not...what have you done for me...but what have you done for me lately? How many fall in love withsome one and still love them 40 years later? It is rare. It happens, but it is rare. So if you find that, it dosen't matter what gender they are. Go for it.
If two people want to get married, it is no one's business but theirs. Everyone is entiteld to their beliefs, but no one should cram their beliefs down the throats of others. Sin, if you believe in it, is when you hurt someone. There is no sin in loving someone and giving them pleasure, whether it lasts for 40 years or 24 hours. Being judgmental, on the other hand, is hurtful. It is, by far, the greatest sin of all.
