to Joylovepeace - on discernment

Good topic.

From my experience, discernment is to a large extent an acquired skill. I also believe there is a component of discernment that for some people, may come more naturally that it does for others and can be described in various ways, from "gut feeling", intuition, higher self, 6th Sense, "a funny feeling" and suspicion, to name a few.

EDIT: this particular sense is a capability we are all born with. This capability is also something the establishment has and contineus to put forth great effort to dumb down, destroy, tarnish, confuse, hide and suck out of us, all of us, so that we do not have this skill to rely on as we wade the waters of life in the establishment world. A lot of people will want you to believe that this human capability is a myth, a joke, something to chide people about for believing in..... like I said, a lot of effort being put forth to ruin this God-given natural survival skill.

I'm the first to admit to having spent a long time in my life being completely oblivious to the need to develop this skill... I was very much discnernment-challenged, a veritable cripple. Perhaps this is something that more naturally comes with age, but in recent years I've changed from the younger days and have been trying hard to make up for lost time even though this in itself is not really possible to do. I can say this, though, after a while, ability to discern what is truth and what is bull has a way of happening naturally.... almost like there is a built-in BS meter that goes off upon being exposed to certain kinds of input. Mainstream media, especially print, is good practice, but for the most part, I have been trying very diligently to stay away from and avoid the influences of TV & broadcast media for nearly 2 years now. There are hidden components to broadcast media that are impossible to consciously detect, so I've committed to just avoiding these all together. People would be shocked and amazed to find out about the subliminal content influencing them in their every day lives. Every moment in front of a turned on TV is a moment being spent away from true reality in favor of false reality IE> entertainment.

Practice, practice, practice, dig, search, scratch, seek, question, question, question, and pursue information, the more varied sources, the better rounded your perspective and skill will become. Learn how to have a mind open enough that you can at least take in new information rather than dismissing it before even taking it in. A lot of people get hung up on the idea and equate "taking in" with "beleive". People may see you taking in information and right away ask you "you mean you believe that stuff?". More an more each day I'm finding the more I learn the less I know, and often times my answer to such a question is "I do not know enough either way to confirm or deny, so I will continue to take in information as I see appropriate". Try to resist the urge to judge right away, just take in information. And, last but not least, if you are so inclined, say a prayer and ask your Creator to give you the strength, knowledge and courage to be able to discern truth from that which is not truth.
