Hello Iam new to this board but not HSV2, I have had that for 16 years. Outbreaks are about once a month and tried alot of alternative supplements that have not helped. Famvir worked well but is real expensive and I do not have health insurance.
Well this is what I did last month, the Ribavirin protacol that was posted on the Totallycool.com site. The first sign of an OB start taking 800mg of Ribavirin in two divided doses daily for 10 days. Stop until you get your next OB, mine was 4 days later. Then take another 10 day dose at 800mg and then stop. Well according to this site peole claim you will never have another OB. I justed finished my second dose on 10/19/06 and I will keep you posted on my results. During my second 10 day dose I had an OB for just about the whole time I was taking the medication. Do your research on this drug and its side effects, I am not telling everyone to try this beacuse during the second dose I felt pretty lousy. I will keep you posted on my results and how long the suppression lasted with this treatment.
