Re: Turmeric
But it has been shown that many people with UC have increased levels of some substances that are responsible for the blood-clotting; and that they do actually have faster blood-clotting than other people (IIRC; I *think* I read that in an publication, but dont have the time to dig it out right now).
On the other hand, vitamin E is known to help (faster) wound healing.
Another thing, that seems to help UC (it was besides mesazaline the only thing that massively improved my situation), but of which only "anecdotical reports" exist is Bromelain, an anti-inflammatory enzyme extract from ananas stems. While this seems to have a distinct positive effect, it is known to "thin the blood".
Probably my case is just different from the ones of very others, because I (mostly) don't see any bleeding up to now, just mucus... and of course I experienced/experience diarrhoea.
By increasing the dose slowly, I have taken natural vitamin E in doses up to ca. 2500 IU (ca. 750 mg alpha-tocopherol) a day and still not seen any bleeding - but neither noted an effect as clearly visible as with bromelain. Even bromelain + >800 IU vitamin E did not cause any visible bleeding.
Hope my experience with it helps you in some way.
