Re: wildlife in the yard

I like the idea of not having a grass yard (not that there's anything wrong with grass). Some people down the street have their entire front yard full of flowers (I think one section is day lilies, and another section is irises, with a big section of liriope (?) ? Not sure. Although part of the year it's just these tall green plants, then all of a sudden, their whole yard is blooming with flowers! Wow!
I actually thought it might be cool to have the whole front yard be clover. I think clover is very pretty and friendly.

My parents both grew up in the country, my mom's parents did tons of gardening.
But my parents are both too lazy to do much of anything to the yard, even mowing the grass very often! ha. When we lived in the country, they would start a big garden but after it got planted they would forget about it, so the weeds would grow, the deer would eat lots of it, and things would die from lack of water.

I've recently gotten into gardening. It just amazes me to plant some seeds and see something grow. Plus I like the idea of food growing in my yard.
I was really impressed with that family in California who grow 6 tons of food every year on 1/5 acre in the city. DANG!!!!!

I would like for it to look nice but honestly that's much less of a priority as growing food and attracting bees, butterflies and other wildlife (and giving them food that's safe to eat).

Ah, well... ONE OF THESE DAYS. Right??
