Re: Baby's day out, by MH
I'm not so sure that the bible has been altered in a way that really messes it up. Of course there are a million translations, and the closer you get to the Hebrew/Greek, the better it is, and the more sense it makes in my opinion. I get into debates with ministers/pastors/reverends/bishops/prophets/priests/nuns/popes you name it, all the time over what the Word means. It's VERY poetic, and multi dimensional (sp) My latest favorite is the last passage of Malachi, where it is stated that the prophet Elijah (not one LIKE him) will return before the day of the Lord and turn the hearts of the chuldren to their fathers and the hearts of the fathers to the children. Now to me, Elijah is surely one of the two witnesses talked about in Revelation who has not yet tasted death (my guess for the other is Enoch) and while forever, bible scholars and the folks I mentioned above have taken this to mean John the Baptist, I believe that's incorrect. First off, the last two chapters are talking about the return of the Lord, not his earthly life, baptisim or ministry, we're talking about THE day here!! The end of this era. Also, what did John EVER do as far as families, or talking about children, ect??? He'd didn't!! But as much as I try to even bring up thoughtful debate, it's approached 99% of the time as "NOPE. We've already learned the truth and we KNOW it. Besides, you didn't even go to school for this". I believe this is the problem with religion especially, and even the bible. So few really care, and the majority of the few who do, feel so often times that they've got it figured and that God can somehow be reduced to what you or I "think" of Him. Well, that's my rant. Longest CZ post ever for sure. Keep digging and praying, God ALWAYS gives wisdom to those who ask. What we do with it....
