May be an ingrown lash. Happened to my GF husband. Dr. scheduled surgery - told him it was cancer.

He went home, my GF's sister (a nurse) inspected, got a pair of tweezers, and out came the eyelash. ALL BETTER.

or, if it is not red, it may be a sebaceous cyst.

Only my thoughts though, I have only experienced the stye/bean cure.
