Kevin, you're doing great! Rome wasn't built in a day...

I was in my early 20's the first time I went vegetarian. My mom was highly annoyed with me. She taught me how to cook! I was rejecting everything that she had taught me.

That's what's going on with you & your parents. By seeking out knowledge OTHER than what your parents have taught you, they're invariably going to feel some rejection and some defensiveness. Just stay true to your course... & maybe some day they'll realize that it's time for THEM to learn from YOU!

From what I can see, your parents have raised an intelligent, curious, stubborn(an excellent quality, by the way), tough, & HONEST young man. You've said things here...well, my oh my, is all I can say. They have done an EXCELLENT job with you!

So, try to understand where your parents are coming from. It'll be easier a few years down the road. They've ABSOLUTELY supplied you with the tools that you need to better your life!
