Hey everyone. Ok, so this is day 5 I think and Iím still really happy with the way things are working. The mixture seems to form a resilient bond over the lips, which Iím hoping will provide them a chance to heal. Itís a little difficult to say whatís actually going onÖI think the peeling has stopped, but, because I have to remove the shell every morning before school, itís hard to say (I think Iím removing only the shell, but not completely positive; although, the skin under the shell looks a lot more normal and water even beads up on the surface without immediately turning the area white). Iím still amazed at how strongly this stuff bond to the area and it sounds like it might be essentially doing what that cream in the epidermal lipid barrier post is supposed to do.
Also, once the gel has formed, if you use your finger to apply it (not a q-tip), the shell is much thinner and less noticeable. In fact, this morning I canít even really tell that anything is on there. Another good thing is that, when out in the sun, the affected areas donít appear super red anymore, which makes going out a little less terrifying.
Iím going to keep doing this for a while to see what happens. Some of my only concerns are: (a) knowing when the areas has healed, if it does, so that I donít have to keep putting the gel on, and (b) if the area will remain normal after cessation of using the gel.
Iíll keep posting updates. Hope everyone is doing well.
