There are different schools of thought on this. There are the alkalizers that recommend eating more alkaline foods, which means not alot of meat and then there is the candida camp that eats meat and veggies.
I have been trying to integrate both for something liveable. I already feel like I prepare food all day long. If I didn't eat some meat, I do not know that I could eat enought to satisfy myself.
At the beginning of the diet, I ate no grains whatsoever as the smallest amount set me off with bloating and gurgling etc. Then I discovered buckwheat (not wheat at all) which has been a saviour to me. It never makes me react.
I always buy the best quality food I can find and use some of the alkalizing protocol like the drinks. I also find that food combining works for me. I will eat carb and vegetables or meat and vegetables but never meat and carb. I also eat my fruit apart from other foods. I have been on the diet for almost 7 months now and I can tolerate small amounts of Ezekial Bread and even sweet potatoes (which I eat with the skin). I also recently began to take HCl with my protein meals and believe that this does help digest it better.
I think if the candida is really bad, it makes sense to cut out carbs for a while until you get it under control and then use how you feel and your reactions as a guide. Good Luck.
