D-Mannose (know it works) & Alka Seltzer (heard it works)

That's a link to D-Mannose info site. I found out about d-mannose from CureZone and it's the only thing that cleared my recurring UTI's (so frustrating, I sympathize with you) that didn't make me feel worse later. When I was on the antibiotics merry-go-round, I was constantly feeling sick and weak because the UTI's would come back every three months or so.
The simple explanation is that D-Mannose is a sugar that binds to the UTI bacteria and flushes it out of your system. I never had any side effects, and the only drawback is that it's a little expensive (but less $ than a doctors visit, culture + antibiotics). It's a very fine powder consistency, tastes sweet, and you take it by mixing a spoonful in water--very easy and painless. Should be able to find it in the "natural foods" part of the grocery store or online.
I took it preventatively (once at night every day) for a few months, and finally stopped when I felt like I didn't need to any more. Now I just keep it around and take a spoonful the minute I feel the vague toxic/nausea/backache symptoms coming on, and I haven't had a full-blown UTI in 6 months (a record). I think it's great stuff, and am so relieved to have something that's not bad for me at hand when I feel the symptoms coming on.
As for the Alka Seltzer, I heard from a friend that taking 2 or 3 of them in water when she had the first hint of symptoms got rid of them as well. Never tried it myself, but shouldn't be too dangerous if you already have them around. Wonder if it's the same "bind to the bacteria" principle as the D-Mannose?
And about diet, don't know if this is true for others, but I always seem to get the symptoms/UTI after eating nitrites. In any case, they are certainly connected to diet for me.
Hope that helps
