Re: food combining

For fruits, eat them alone. Eating with cereal is not a good combination. Then again, cereal is not a very healthful food. For fruits, the exception can be pineapple and papaya (I've heard apples, too, but I'm not sure on that one). Due to their enzymes they can help you digest other foods.
I would just go by the chart, too. If you want to combine the acid/alkaline thing with the chart, here is what I'd do: Choose which foods you will eat (overall, not for a meal). Do you ever eat meat? Do you ever eat rice? Do you ever eat walnuts? etc. This is from the acid alkaline charts. Try to choose more foods that are alkaline forming - or at least, a higher percentage like 75%. After you know which foods, then when it comes to a particular meal, you just look at the chart. The simple way to apply the chart is just to eat fruit alone, and then combine one concentrated food with all the vegetables you want. So, one sweet potato, or one serving of meat, or one serving of bread, but none of those together (eaten with a big salad, or other forms of vegetables.) The nuts issue really depends on how your health and digestion is, and how strict you want to be. Theoretically you should eat them alone (with vegetables o.k.) But a lot of people combine them with starches, with proteins, etc. since they are mixed food, and seem to have no ill effects.

In the end, don't sweat it. The more important thing is to make good food choices, and to eat fruits on an empty stomach only. The rest is just details!
