Ah, the thundering roar of the Falls! It is mesmerizing and I hate to be near the edge -- I'm one of those that imagines hopping over the fence and over the Falls! Yikes!
They are beautiful and more powerful than one could imagine.
In the last few years, there has been a tremendous amount of work done on the various gardens around the Falls themselves. It is possible to drive from our place all along the Parkway beside the Niagara River and then on past Niagara Falls itself to Niagara On The Lake, the first capital of Canada (it is now Ottawa, far away from here). This is one of the most beautiful scenic drives in the country.
There is a School of Horticulture, where the few students maintain all of the grounds -- which are gorgeous -- and there is also a Butterfly Conservatory nearby. Farther down the Parkway, there is a beautiful floral clock whose flowers and design are constantly changing.
There are two casinos in NF itself and a short block, chock full of various tourist traps and entertainment!
Make the trip one day -- the lights go on over both sets of Falls at night and it is quite beautiful!
