I have long suspected that there were some benzene chemicals in the well water where we used to live, and even though I didn't drink much of it, it was still being absorbed through the skin. This was all of course realised in hind-sight. Benzene is an herbicides and pesticides used in lawn care products and is known to cause leukemia.
He was born with the leukemia though, because he had lesions and lumps which developed under his skin during the acute phase, and there was one such lump present at birth. No-one knew what it was before he was diagnosed and I just thought it was a birth mark. I guess you don't believe that parasites cause disease then, just show up as opportunistic invaders to kick someone when they're already down.
I tried to find the book you recommended, but I don't see it at Amazon.com, or on the web anywhere. Can you tell me where to find it?
By the way, if you have another moment, the little diagram I manufactured for the "string eggs" is in my own reply to my first post, with (re-do) in the heading. Tell me what you think, if you've seen anything like that before.
