I agree, numbers aren't that big for me either. More than reaching the goal weight I want to look in the mirror and not see flab.
That being said, I check my weight everyday. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, but since I don't panic to see a few extra pounds, I doesn't really deject me. But I find that checking my weight everyday motivates me to stay on track, and it's very inspiring to see evidence of progress.
Everytime I'm tempted by a candy bar, I think "Gosh, I don't want to step on tomorrow and see the effects of a few minutes pleasure." So weighing scales work for me in that sense.
