Strange Symptoms... cyst??
Hi everyone. This is my first visit to these forums. Glad to meet you all!
I have sort of a long story here... hoping maybe someone knows of why this is happening to me:
About 3 weeks ago I started getting nausea in the afternoons and dizzy spells, accompanied by extreme fatigue every day and a general "ache" in my pelvic region. A friend at work said "Maybe you're pregnant" but I knew this wasn't the case, as my BF had been ill for a while and we were not active. Something similar to these symptoms had happened back in March and it resulted in a hospital visit where I was told I "probably had a ruptured cyst." Considering I had previously had a cyst and now it was gone, that made sense. So I figured these symptoms were telling me another cyst was getting ready to burst.
About 1.5 weeks ago, one evening I got a horrible sharp pain where my right ovary is and immediately started spotting. But my period wasn't due for another 10 days. I completely lost my appetite and was exhausted. By Saturday, I was bleeding heavier (though not a flow... just big clots,) and my pain was so bad I went to the ER. They assumed a ruptured bleeding cyst, but were concerned about my jumping off the table during a routine abdomen check where the doctor felt my gallbladder. Blood levels were all normal (except borderline anemia,) and the doc just gave me Percocet and said "follow up with your regular doctor regarding the pain in the gallbladder." I'd had no symptoms other than the nausea for the gall bladder and no pain except when she had pressed there. But the ER doc also said that fluids from the ruptured cyst may have travelled up and irritated something. That didn't seem feasible...but she's the doc, not me.
Two days later I was back at an E.R. with pain now in the gallbladder region. It had started after an ice cream cone the night before. Still pain in the ovary area too. Generally, my whole right side was killing me! They did a CT Scan and Ultrasound of both my pelvis and abdomen because I was running a low-grade fever. They said everything was perfectly normal and sent me home with more Percocet and Motrin 600. I was angry... they claimed I was in great health. I argued with the doctor, "You don't get pain like this and a fever for nothing!" but she said there was nothing to warrant further tests and just stay in bed a few days.
The next day I went to my regular doctor and he assumed maybe I had spastic colon (I've had intestinal problems/ulcerative colitis on the left side before, but not the right.) So he gave me some Bentyl and said "get some rest." The Bentyl did absolutely nothing for me and I called my gastroenterologist the next day. He said "I think it's your gall bladder" and sent me for a HIDA scan, which I had today. They said everything looked fine, but that I had an awfully fast system and seemed to go faster than anyone else. That worried me... maybe my system is going to fast and wearing itself out? Or causing spasms?
Anyway, tonight I have a 101.1 fever and still have the pain in my upper right side, as well as occasional sharp pains in my lower right. I never got my period, just that clotting for 3 days (usually I run heavy for 7 days.)
Anyone know if it's possible for a ruptured ovarian cyst to cause upper right pain? It's sharp and in one place... not spread throughout the abdomen. It gets worse after I eat. It doesn't seem to me that I ever had a ruptured cyst... at this point I think it's an intestinal problem, but who knows. I haven't gotten any answers and I'm still in pain and running fevers...so I'm at a loss. It's futile to go see another doctor... they do nothing for me except prescribe pain pills. I want to find the cause of the pain and treat that.
THANKS!
