I just completed a 10 day Water Fast and I must say, it was extremely difficult. This is my third time fasting, as usual, for health reasons, but mainly for weight loss. Each time, I say the next fast will be different, but each time it has been the same. I feel as if I have next to no will-power. After I broke my fast (on salad), I was ravenous... I felt like my only option was to eat and eat and eat until my body couldn't take any more, so i decided to eat a healthy meal, and I only got hungrier and hungrier... much hungrier than the first few days of my fast. It makes sense, since our bodies are programmed to recover from periods of starvation, that the body would crave, growl, hunger for any morsel of food in sight, to prevent it from starving, in case of another starvation period or famine. I'm not saying not to fast. It is a good experience and it shows you just how strong you can be when faced with challenges. All I am saying is to be careful and not to expect lasting weight loss from a fast, unless, maybe you are extremely overweight. I believe Hopinso and Mike and others were right all along... Fasting is just the quickest route to take when you are seeking to drop weight quickly, but quicker isn't necessarily better. Sorry if this message is not welcome. I just want to warn you all that fasting is not the answer for permanent weight loss. Good luck in your weight loss endeavors. I hope you are all able to find what works for you. Again, this is not meant to discourage you, just as a warning. Fasting enduces more and more hunger, at least, that has been the case with me.
