It is comforting to know that I'm not the only one with this problem. For the longest time I was surrounded and influenced only by my family and their friends, all of whom considered over-eating and extra pounds perfectly normal. Each time an overweight member of the family tried to diet, they were ostracized by the others and told they were going to get too thin (ridiculous for a 200 pound woman at 5'4", like my mother!). Family pushed food constantly. However, now I have been away from family and am looked upon with horror by people when I can consume an entire bag of candy in one sitting. Now I am the freak and it isn't a nice feeling!
I am doing today what you suggested-- fasting only for today, and allowing myself to eat tomorrow. I'm going to try to find the book you suggested sometime this week, when I can get to the bookstore. I'll post later and tell you how it goes... thank you so much for your reply.
