Re: Problems following 21 day fast-HOPEFULLY RESOLVED
Hi Zoey, it sounds like you are getting yourself back to normal. It is not at all unusual after a fast of that duration to experience difficulties restarting normal bowel movements, and as livingwater posted above, those foods you are eating don't produce much bulk.
I seriously doubt that you have done any serious damage to yourself. Have you considered eating some larger quattities of steamed or boiled vegetables such as chard, spinach, broccoli, brussels sprouts etc?
Something that seldom fails to help stimulate my bowels to move is an 8 ounce glass of Welches Concord grape juice. It contains no
Sugar or other additives, but at least for me is "potent". It is also rich in Potassium and other nutrients. If you buy some grapefruits and make fresh squeezed juice, that is also an excellent bowel stimulant.
But don't hesitate to take an enema if you go too long with out a good movement. I suggest one teaspoon of
Sea Salt per pint of filtered or warmed bottled water (103 F, 37.5 C at preparation), or 4 teaspoons for a full bag.
During your 21 day fast your colon may have gone into somewhat of a lethargic state if it was not being filled daily with the customary volume of food residue, so it just may need some additional stimulus for the next couple of weeks.
I'm happy to hear that things seem to be getting resolved!
Best wishes, Valerie
