From my understanding you will still detox. It will be a much slower process because your body will continually have to stop and focus on digesting the bread and then go back to the detoxing. However, it can be done. Any detox is worth it in my opinion.
Also as long as you are expending more energy than you are taking in you will lose weight, so that should not be an issue.
