Questions about coconut oil in plastic
Hi,
I've been using the Coconut Oil Supreme from
www.coconutoil-online.com. It's a lovely tasting oil and is supposed to be quite pure with minimal processing. I am getting increased energy with it, however my recent post (see below) describes how I've also been getting upper back pain since using the oil. I'm wondering if this is one of two things. As coconut oil doesn't appear to require lipase nor bile salts for digestion, these two things are...
- a cleansing of my lymphatic system (you can get pain anywhere with this), OR
- a reaction to the plastic pouches in which the oil came. (I transferred the oil into glass jars when it arrived)
I enquired with the company about the plastic and their reply was...
"The plastic pouch is a "high-barrier" vacuum pouch designed for long-term food storage. "High-barrier" refers to the properties of one of the layers of the pouch (it is a multilayered plastic) to prevent oxygen transmission. The inside layer next to the food is polyethylene which is the same type of material used for standard food storage bags. This type of plastic doesn't contain plasticizers and the oestrogenic chemicals which cause problems normal associated with plastics".
Does anyone know if this sort of plastic is as safe as the company claims and would not leach into the oil? If it is the plastic I'm reacting to, I assume I would have brain fog and feel more tired, which is not happening.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks :)
Anne
