i read your post just hours after My first bad experience with kefir. I always add a 1/2 pt. of creme to my batch to creme it up so to speak. Only when I went to add my creme to the next batch the creme was sour. When I went to strain the grains I couldn't stand it. It smelled like barf. I don't know if it would have been good for me or not. I recommend the fresh stuff. I don't know if I could have strained all the curds (lots of big ones)maybe I could have made creme cheese. I'm using the grains in my new batch after rinsing. I hope it turns out. I'm out of kefir. As I threw the last batch. I suppose I can survive on my ferm. cab. juice til then. I guess it is filled with stuff! Loving it as much as kefir. I mix the two for my morning tonic.
