Re: 666-what, me worry?
I think we have to be very careful in placing any significance on the number. I've been in buildings with that number as an address, I've seen many phone numbers with that number. In fact, we can see that number in many things. When everybody was worrying about Y2K, I noticed that the whole problem was caused by changing from the first millenium dates to the second millenium dates (year 1"999" to year 2000), turn "999" upside down and backwards, what do you get? The whole world topsy turvy and life as we know it destroyed, and what is the cause?...man's number system for keeping dates. I was pretty sure it was just a coincidence, well, I guess it was. I saw a documentary on the 7 signs of Christ's and it was pointed out that in the year 999, EVERYBODY was frantic because they thought that the year 1000 was going to be the end of the world. It's just human nature that people like to freak out (suspense, adventure, danger and exitement). Some ancient manuscripts use the number 616, but we also have to remember that the original new testament was written in Greek and the numbers are thought to be meaningful as part of a Hebrew numbering system, so, there probably is not much understandable meaning to be found in modern languages. People try to figure it out in modern English names and attach all kinds of superstition to it (Though I walk through the valley of the SHADOW of death, I will not fear any number...or anyTHING). There are lots of things that we can choose to worry about, but I have my heart set on the objective.
