Re: breakin the law

The significance of law in Christianity is a very controversial subject and requires "ears to hear and eyes to see" in order to even BEGIN to have a proper perspective. It is not simply laws and commands that the Christian must be aware of for a proper walk with Jesus, it is CONSCIENCE. We must be able to stand before the Lord with a clear conscience and our personal relationship with Him depends on it (1 Timothy 1:19 "By rejecting conscience, certain persons have made shipwreck of THEIR faith"). "THEIR" faith refers to their personal relationship with Jesus. In Jeremiah 31:33, when the Lord says that in the last days "...I will put my law WITHIN them and I will write it upon their HEARTS...", it means that the law is no longer simply LIMITED to what is WRITTEN in scripture, but that the law of NEW TESTAMENT Christianity (Love) will (Hebrews 8:10 "I will put my law into their minds" and Romans 12:2 "...but be transformed by the renewal of your mind...") determine our everyday behavior and walk with The Lord. Our Christianity is now proven every single day by how we handle each and every situation in our lives (1 Corinthian 16:14 "Let all that you do be done in love" Romans 13:8 "...for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law"). I am in NO WAY saying that obedience to "law" or commands is insignificant, but James 2:8 says "If you REALLY fulfil the royal law..." meaning that there IS a deeper understanding that requires "eyes to see and ears to hear". The royal law is that you "SHALL (must) love your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength". If a criminal came to you and pointed a gun at your head and said "Love me", could you do it? NO,...you could PRETEND to by showering the criminal with gifts and compliments, but you couldn't REALLY love him. Do you love God because you are ORDERED to, or because you WANT to? I don't love God because I am ORDERED to, I love Him because I love His ways of goodness and lovingkindness and I WANT to love Him. I loved God before I knew His name and His truth (before I knew that Jesus was real and that the bible was His truth). Of course, I do FULFIL the requirements of the law (Romans 13:10 "...therefore, love is the FULFILLING of the law"). "Fulfilling" does not mean "simple" obedience, it refers to behavior similar to what the Good Samaritan did. As far as PERFECT and COMPLETE goodness, "NO ONE is good but God alone", so it is not the TEACHINGS of Jesus that determine our Christianity, it is the teachings of THE HOLY SPIRIT that determine our Christian walk. "ROTE" obedience to scripture is not the way to be Godly, Christianity (unlike religion) is not a bunch of procedures and formulas (that is what the Pharisees did, their simple obedience to scriptural text was not sufficient) Romans 2:29 "...and REAL circumcision is a matter of the heart...". There are a lot of LITERARY contradictions in the bible that leave us with GAPS (inaccuracy) and misunderstanding of exactly what God requires of us on a daily basis. Do you think that was an accident that the great omnipetent God overlooked? NO, we must fill in those "gaps" with the teaching of THE HOLY SPIRIT. Look to the wisdom from above.
