That is probably the only attitude that is keeping you from being earnest in your prayers. God is love (not fear). I know that it is a common saying when people claim to be a "God fearing person", but He wants us to be able to call Him "FRIEND" (John 15:14). Proverbs 1:7 says that the BEGINNING of knowledge is the FEAR of God, but we (the church) have been given wisdom to know His truth. We are not stuck back at the beginning of knowledge. You cannot LOVE God and FEAR HIM at the same time. Of course, that's only my opinion, but I choose to LOVE God without fear (though He slay me, yet shall I love Him). Fear comes from the concern of NOT HAVING CONTROL. Have you surrendered everything to the Lord? I know that is difficult to do in your case because of the children, and God knows that you are concerned about them. When you pray to Him, do you TELL Him what to do, or do you ASK Him to do what HE wills for your life?
