Re: Being Chrislike and joking
I understand that heaven is a place of "non-stop" worship, and I wish it were no different for us right now (imagine the utter and intense joy), but we are not to imagine that things can always be the same on earth, because, we have jobs, bills to pay, responsibilities like buying groceries, fixing our car or house, and all the things of everyday life. When reading the bible, many Christians DRAW CONCUSIONS from what they read, and this is where trouble starts. When reading the bible, you should not just pray TO Jesus to help you understand what each verse means, but you should be waiting on Him to HEAR what He tells you it means and should mean in YOUR life and how you should understand it. Make reading the bible part of your PERSONAL relationship and NOT a philosophy. Many people say "I believe in the teachings of Jesus", but do nothing about knowing Him PERSONALLY and know nothing about His gift of eternal life, nor do they care about what He has to offer because they believe in astrology and new age stuff. God is not a philosophy or religion, God is the owner of the human race and must be taken very seriously. Satan wants us to simply DRAW CONCLUSIONS from what we read and think that the bible only tells us about a nice way of life, but the Lord wants us to have "eyes to see and ears to hear" and not be stuck back at the BEGINNING of wisdom (It is only the beginning of wisdom that is the FEAR of the Lord, the rest of it comes from learning to LOVE Him properly,... you know,...personal relationship). The Lord never tells us not to be human and refrain from laughing, but, like you said,...BALANCE is key. Laughing at the IRONY of life (a kind of cynical view of human folly) is much the same as Jewish humor and not out of place, it is only POKING fun at something that is.
