I do two simple things with the Aloe, and yes, I too have a healthy sized flock of plants growing, probably 20 plants or so that were originally spawned/replanted from the same momma plant.
After I've blended the soap ingredients to the point of tracing, I then #1 cut several fat Aloe sprigs from a healthy (overgrown) plant, and milk the juice into the pot of soap ingredients; #2 I then mince the remaining pieces of Aloe skins and just blend them in with the ingredients too. The latter sort of adds just a touch of naturally abrasive material to help the soap do it's job - clean away dirt.
I've been using this home made soap for going on two years, for all bathing needs, plus I grate a pile every now and then to use as flakes in the laundry. In the interim have not purchased store-brand soap, nor store-brand mouthwash nor toothpaste. I use H202 for gargling and have been trying a variety of natural items for brushing, to include oregano powder.
