Re: Flushing Gallstones - My Story and what I think !
Old Pilot,
I am not Bill, but I will throw a bit of knowledge at you. Fried foods, white flour (in pancakes) and possibly some of the ingredients in your "real" maple syrup......and margarine for sure, all contribute to making stones. Syrup like Aunt Jemima or Mrs. Butterworth's and Log Cabin are not pure maple sryups and they have all kinds of garbage ingredients in them. 100 percent pure maple syrup, organic if possible, is ok to eat in moderation. I also use stevia, an herbal sweetener that can be purchased at a health food store, or online. The hardest things on people that suffer from gall stones are white flour of any kind, including white bread,
White Sugar , all fried foods.....snack foods (all are either fried or contain chemicals or both), dairy products......(some say that butter is ok) and eggs. Cheese is one of the worst. All fast food is hard on the gall bladder. I do not even eat red meat because I am scared of having another gall bladder attack. I do eat boiled chicken and very rarely some fish.
Fear of pain is a great motivator for me. Some times I get discoraged.......then I think of that night in the ER and it brings me to my senses on what to not eat.
I eat a lot of veggies, fruit and also some mung beans. I eat a lot of salad using olive oil in the dressing that I concoct. Believe it or not, it does not taste like I am doing a
Liver Flush when I eat my salads. It is important to include some fat, but it needs to be good fat...olive oil is a good fat. Flax seed oil is a good fat.
The hardest thing for me to avoid is the fried foods.
Again, I wish you the best...keep posting. I do not know about the depression. I offer you my sincere condolences on the loss of your wife. Death is a hard thing to cope with. The emotions are stored in the liver. People post about this a lot and I believe it is true.
I wish I could be of more help.
Take care,
Blueduck
