India
Dear Marion,
I am really excited for you, going to India. You'll have a fabulous experience. I can perhaps offer some suggestions of courses and where you could practice. I am not familiar with Sri Lanka, but assume you have plans made there.
A hop across the pond from Sri Lanka will land you either in Kerala or Tamil Nadu. I think ayehasherayeh mentioned to you that I did a teachers training course at the Sivananda ashram in Neyyar Dam (near the capital, Trivandrum, Kerala). This course is a residential 4-week program. They usually offer another 4-week advanced teachers training course afterwards. Both are quite intense spiritually. The advanced course is focused more on developing your own spiritual practice: advanced asanas, pranayama, study of Sutras and other texts, meditation. The ttc is offered in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, or Uttar Kashi in the north. Here's where I was, but you can find other locations on the site:

A friend of mine did a 6-month ttc at an ashram in Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu. She had good things to say about it, though she was there during the Tsunami and it was a very difficult time. Here it is:

If I had six months off and a few thousand dollars I'd be doing a program in yoga therapy in Bangalore at the Vivekananda ashram. They have one-month residential teachers training courses as well:

Satyananda/Bihar School of Yoga is very reputable (a devotee of Swami Sivananda). They have courses as well in Bihar:

Also if you travel to the north you could go to Rishikesh, a deeply spiritual place on the Ganges. There is a Sivananda ashram there, which you would need to write to them if you wanted to visit, operating as Divine Life Society. Although there are apparently a lot of good yoga schools in Rishikesh itself.
You mention "intensive" a couple of times. I'm not sure what you mean by that. I have given you links to very classical and reputable training programs. India is swimming with people wanting to make a few dollars from yoga (same here actually). If by "intense" you mean you want to focus on asanas, as you know you can go to Mysore. There are a few schools there aside from Jois.
In my opinion a yoga teacher should have an understanding of, and experience with a yogic lifestyle. It is important to become a teacher in a residential program, hopefully at an ashram where you can retreat from worldly life while you learn. These programs are quite intense and revolutionary in terms of how they influence your life. Take advantage of being in India and seek out as much as you can in a spiritual vein.
I could talk all day about India. You'll love it.
I'll shut up now....feel free to post again with any other questions.
Oh, by the way. Must have in your travel kit....
Antibiotic ointment (even if you don't use it here, you'll find out why), tea tree oil, natural insect repellent, long pants, long sleeves (no tank tops or spandex). If you haven't already done this, I would urge you NOT to have travel vaccinations, and NOT to take the malaria medication often recommended. Be careful with drinking water and eat vegetarian and you'll be fine. There is a homeopathic alternative for malaria preventative if you wish.
My best wishes,
Janaki
