British New Labour Government “Health-Care”: The Corruption Mounts



In 1998, the National Health Service (NHS) shelled out 620,000,000 drug prescriptions: a figure growing by 15% annually. In the UK, 1999 will see around £6 billion go to the drugs industry. Far from any alarm at the creation of a chronically sick, drug-dependant nation, New Labour “celebrated 50 years of the NHS” by putting the phrase “1,700,000 prescriptions dispensed daily” on a postage stamp.



Around 40% - and rising - of the population have, or will develop, cancer: 20 million suffer from some degree of arthritis: 40% of adults - 60% of over 65s - report chronic illness or disability: new cases of diabetes, epilepsy, asthma...well over 20,000 - and rising - diseases threaten a spectacular disease/economic gridlock.



In America, prescribed drugs are the cause of over 100,000 deaths anually, whilst damaging over a million others. In the UK estimates vary, but drugs (“safety-tested” on animals) could be responsible for the death and serious disability of 70,000 people each year, putting drug reactions behind only heart attacks and strokes as a cause of death (see New Scientist 19.9.98).



In the 10 years to 1992, serious disease in children rose by an average of 85%; child cancer incidence almost tripled; a quarter of pregnancies end in miscarriage...and so on...



Vaccination



The plague of physical and mental disease caused by vaccination has long been out of control: a book sent recorded delivery to all the New Labour health ministers outlining the threat was not acknowledged. New Labour have furthermore refused to order an investigation into the 1994 “measles epidemic” scam which saw two drug companies off-load vaccines which were due to go out of date.



Fraudulent Testing



Labour’s Agriculture Minister, Jack Cunningham, was asked why, when rats react differently to mice, male rats differently to female rats, morning rats differently to evening rats, mice on one type of bedding differently to another, etc, they were using these rodents to assess human toxicity risk from agrochemicals: no reply. New Labour’s promised plans for a Royal Commission on vivisection disappeared after the election; their very good friends in the pharmaceutical industry presumably having ordered them not to interfere with their fraudulent “safety-tests”.



Organophospates



Meanwhile, New Labour’s pledge to ban organophosphate sheep dips has, predictably, been shown to be another lie: Cunningham has believed the Medical Research Council racketeers who said that the organophospahte Phosmet was not the cause of BSE/CJD, as many believe it to be. At the time of the phoney “animal research” the MRC were being funded by drug giant Zeneca, who then held the licence for Phosmet.



Fluoridation



Fluoride is a carcinogen, immuno-suppressant, enzyme inhibitor and narcotic: a tasteless, odourless, cumulative poison. 98% of Europeans do not consume water which has been fluoridated. With the exception of the Spanish and their attempt to dope the Basque Separatists, the practice is exclusive to the British Isles. Of the chemical dumped into drinking water, hexafluorosilic acid, the suppliers state “Do not let this chemical enter the environment. Dispose of this product as hazardous waste.” New Labour’s “Department of Health” say: “Water fluoridation is safe and effective and no adverse effects have ever been found...”



Tessa Jowell, “Minister for Public Health”, knowing that there is NO evidence showing that fluoride reduces tooth decay, and having been shown conclusive evidence that the chemical is a major threat to health, is still pushing for a fluoride-poisoned nation.



Vitamin B6



The Committee on Toxicity - 9, at least, of whose 15 members are, or have been, in the pay of the drugs industry - persuaded Jeff Rooker, the Food Minister, that doses of vitamin B6 above 10 milligrams per day were not safe for humans: a conclusion based on the results of giving dogs 50 mg of the vitamin per kg of dog weight; equal to around 1,000 - 2,000 mg for a typical dog, which weighs a fraction of that of a typical adult. Relevant tests on humans show that 200 - and more - mgs per day are safe.



The brother of Tessa Jowell, the other Minister involved, is head of legal and medical affairs at drug giant Glaxo Wellcome. However, a massive public campaign overthrew the threatened ban: for the time being.



Cancer



The cancer epidemic and the carnage from the orthodox cancer treatment escalates continually in spite of there being no scientifically valid evidence that the treatment is of any value. Jowell and the NHS beurocrats have consistently refused to listen to the case for the safe, effective, natural, non-patentable alternatives, or to take action against those petro-pharmaceutical/industrialists who are causing the epidemic.



Medicines Control Agency (MCA)



Using a 30 year old Brussels directive, the medical/pharmaceutical mafia, in the shape of the MCA, decided that melatonin, a harmless substance found in tomatoes and other fruit and vegetables, should be classed as a medicine. Melatonin is used as a remedy for jet-lag, insomnia and many other problems. Two pharmaceutical companies are working on synthetic melatonin substitutes which are due to be licenced by the MCA and sold at ten times the price of natural melatonin.



Labour’s Alan Milburn, and the MCA, on the strength of fabricated “evidence” from the American FDA, were responsible for a ban on “herbal highs”, the safe alternative to ecstasy and other dangerous pharmaceuticals. This government is now secretly planning for the MCA to have sweeping new powers to attack the herbal/homoeopathic/nutritional alternatives to drugs. The plan is to allow the MCA to decide that harmless vitamin products need colossally expensive “safety-tests” and licensing by the MCA.



Genetically Engineered Foods



Prime Minister Tony Blair rejected widespread calls for a 3 year hold on genetically engineered commercially grown crops in the UK. Drug company Novartis, one of the leading GE firms, were a major contributor to New Labour in 1997, whilst Labour Science Minister, Lord Sainsbury, is head of an organisation which is spending millions of pounds developing GE products. Since the election there have been over 80 visits by GE firms - Monsanto, Du Pont, Zeneca, etc - to New Labour Ministers or other MPs or officials.



The British Broadcasting Corportation



The licence-funded BBC have continued to pour out unchallenged propaganda supporting the ruthless corportations in the fields of health, medicine and the environment: complaints to New Labour have not had the slightest effect. Labour’s traditional ignorance and incompetence on all matters of health and medicine cannot explain this state of affairs. The deals, with the powerful vested interests, started before New Labour came to power and are ongoing.
