Poorly functioning gallbladder

I have had a normal ultrasound of gallbladder. No stones showed up. Then I had a SEVERE attack. And a HIDASCAN of the gallbladder indicated that it was functioning at only 19%. Can anybody tell me if a cleanse and proper diet will solve my problem. Is a cleanse program only successful when stones are present? Can I improve the function of my gallbladder, or is there no turning back. Will I ALWAYS have to miss eating an occasional ice cream cone with my children? Will I always feel like a walking time bomb?
Thanks for any input.
