I think you can do cardio on an empty stomach with good results. But weight training/strength training should be done with at least some carbohydrates beforehand (and afterward). Like a piece of fruit, at least.

Or you could consider a green drink like wheatgrass juice or barleygreen powder, etc. before any exercise.
