Re: Can You Tell Me ABout "The Leanness Lifestyle"?

I never heard of the leanness lifestyle, sounds interesting. I always enjoy reading new books. I did flip through a book called "Body by God" (my aunt bought it) and I thought it looked really good, sound information. It incorporates weights and body resistence, plus diet, I believe.
There is another good book out there, called "Look Great Naked" that you might want to check out, that guy also addresses building muscle.
If you are overweight and young (as you indicated) you should definitely try weight training. First of all, don't worry, as a female you will not bulk up and look like a scary man, you would have to plan on that and see it coming. It's better to use moderately heavy weights instead of really light ones (ex. 8 lb. one arm bicep curls versus 2 lbs) but the important thing is that you not injure yourself. If you have no experience I recommend you familiarize yourself with a book and then contact a personal trainer. Show them the book and have them work with you for perhaps two sessions (1 upper body and 1 lower body) so that they can just show you have to do the movements properly, and also so you can gauge what weights you can start out with. If you are a member of a gym then it will be easier to have the proper weights to use but I understand you can also get good results just with buying several varied weights of dumbbells. That would be a good start and doing things at your house is convenient.
