Perhaps another possibility is that they're somewhat "immune" to the odor, if you have any. It's well known that folks often can't smell their own odor. I presume that's because one's olfactory senses eventually sense such odor as the norm, and become insensitive to it. If your family is around you often, perhaps their sense of smell has done the same to a lesser extent??? My guess is that strangers or anyone else you don't live with, noses to whom you're unfamiliar, would be your best "independent verifiers."
