Bob, thanks for the kick in the pants!
Bob,
Last night I got into a blue funk about having this stupid disability, complete with all the images of wheelchairs, becoming a shut in, everyone forgetting me, oh, you might as well put me down now... the whole nine yards. I asked John (my dh for those who don't know) to serve me divorce papers so he wouldn't have to live with me- I was a mess!
Well, with everything I ate for Thanksgiving plus the leftovers, plus all the go-go-go of Christmas, wedding plans, John's new job, on top of the normal day-to-day stuff, it's no wonder!
Then you post this. You meant it for Barbara, but it's just what I needed. I printed the post and I'm about to put it in my journal.
The thing that struck home was that Dr. S said you don't take an herb for a week and expect to get cured. You don't do a program for thirty days and expect total healing- TADA! No, it's a lifestyle.
You can make the changes slowly, by doing the basics first. What did he say? Do the basics, then address the specifics. We want the magic pill to cure the thing that's out of whack, but we don't realize it's the entire system that needs to be adjusted. And look at the letter, it's not just the body, but the whole person- the emotions, the spirit, and the body.
I needed that kick in the seat just now. So many people treat those of us with serious diseases like they need to wear kid gloves around us. I love Dr. S because he gets in your face and tells you the truth.
Thanks, Bob.
love,
-Donna
