the garlic won't get stuck, unless you use a giant clove...but some women sew a cotton thread through one end for easier removal. Peel it, but try not to cut it too much.
But since you said that all the herbs you tried have made you break out, be prepared-the garlic might sting somewhat. Garlic is a very potent antifungal and antibiotic. Borax is another remedy used for douches, but I haven't tried it.
It does seem like a dietary overhaul with supplements to build up your immunity is what you need to get you ph balance back. Those herbs, acidophilus, douches etc. work locally, but if they're not helping you, it's not enough to work on the local conditions -the overall breeding ground for the overgrown bacteria and yeast has to be removed. Did you take a lot of Antibiotics in the past?
One good book is called "The Ph Miracle" by Robert Young.
Do take a good probiotic, and follow something like an anti-yeast diet. Juice greens, reduce all things sweet and refined. Include anti-fungal foods and herbs in your diet (coconut oil, olive leaf, pau d'arco, garlic), and don't give up. It's important for baby, too, because if you suffer from candida, your baby's gut might get colonised too. Some mothers here have reported that if they followed an anti-candida diet, their babies suffered from less candida-related disorders like food intolerances (very common).

Do see a naturopath for support with herbs and diet, and a homeopath as well. Classical homeopathy, correctly prescribed, can help tremendously to address both physical and emotional imbalance. Avoid taking more Antibiotics and stuff like flagyl, it won't heal you, but might weaken your body more.
If you want to learn more about homeopathy, I can recommend two books:
"Everybody's Guide to Homeopathic Medicines" by Cummings/Ullman, and Miranda Castro's " Homeopathy for pregnancy, birth and baby's first year".
Empower yourself, and you will learn more about your body and become more confident to decide which interventions you want to accept for your baby's birth...
