Re: Pregnant for first time...

Hi,

I had my first at 34, and am pregnant again at 39. I had a homebirth (waterbirth) and plan to do the same again.

Check out gentlebirth.org and mothering.com for really useful information along those lines!

You age is nothing to worry about as long as you are healthy and in good spirits!!

Constipation and liver congestion is what I got this time, especially in the first trimester. What helped me was:

-Lots of water first thing in the morning
-Magnesium
-Lemon juice
-Olive oil at night, 1-2 tbsp
-dandelion tea-also great for detox and general liver congestion
-Psyllium husks, soak 1-2 tablespoons in water for 5 minutes, drink more water
-For iron, I take Floradix, a plant based tonic

I haven't found a midwife yet- I live in Singapore, the capital of medicated birth, but it will happen, I am confident!!
For herbs, Susun Weed has written a book about pregnancy and childbirth. www.susunweed.com
Also check out Miranda Castro's book on homeopathy and pregnancy/childbirth (amazon)
Empower yourself, be positive and things will happen!
It's a great experience, you'll love it!
