Thoughts on homeopathy

Hi!

Good to hear people's thoughts on this subject--it's always intersted me.

Personally I have taken homeopathic remedies for "small" grievances and it worked like a charm. For instance I had a very bad mouth sore that would not heal for a few weeks, so I started taking 2 homeopathic remedies and it cleared up in a few days (althought the "root" of the problem was probably much deeper). The funny thing is this: after a week or so or taking these pills, I started to get constipated, which is really strange for me. Then I found in my research that one of the remedies I'd tried was formulated for mouth sores and diarhea! so i'd accidentally dosed myself a little too much in the wrong direction.. don't know, is that placebo or what??? the other thing i've had sucess with using homeopathic stuff for the beginning of tendinitis pain in my hands--it did not work so well but after taking it for a while and doing perscribed exercises after a few months the pain went away.

i've seen remedies for candida, but personally i would not look to homeopathics here as i think they deal mainly with "external" symptoms, rather than deep-rooted illness & disease. that is a whole 'nother story. practicioners have recommended to me not to use homeopathy to cover up symptoms, such as chronic back pain or digestive problems--you need to actually go rehab yourself and figure these issues out. otherwise the symptoms may be relieved bu the problem will fester.

i've read some on how homeopathy works, and it always confused me.. so they take these chemicals, substances that are really bad for us, and actually cause the symptoms we have, and they dilute them so much that only the "essence" remains.. sounds weird. but when you think about it, it is the same concept as a vaccine, only on a smaller and more ethereal scale. inject the body with something it thinks it needs to fight, and it ups the fighting power (be they white blood cells, red, natural flora, whatever) which helps to cure.

don't know if this is a good theory but it's the same one i've heard explaining why urine can be a good tonic for the skin.. the idea is that small amounts of the particular toxins that you're trying to fight is present in your urine, and when you put it onto your skin or drink it, you are re-introducing small amounts of toxins that make your body automatically up the ante in those particular areas.. don't know about that but i know that urine is a really great astringent for the skin!! ; ) but that's something that nobody asked, huh?! i'm sorry, if there's a "free" health product out there, like on that comes from your body, i can't help but try it. ; )

take care, if any of you have significant success stories on homeopathy, let's hear them..

also, has anyone ever done flower essences? another case of the placebo effect, but damn i swear they work!!!

jessie
