Oh dear I'm sorry I was so unclear, probably my dyslexia striking again LOL!
Enzymes are a priority, but you shoot yourself in the foot trying to get them only from raw foods when your body cannot break the foods down to get at the enzymes. You just add garbage to your colon, and it becomes food for bacteria, fungus and parasites.
I'm very much in favor of using enzymes, it is one of the few supplements that I heartily recommend to everyone. For someone in a weakened state, cooked foods + enzymes is one of the best things to do. I also recommend people taking enzymes at night, without food, so they can be used to assist in clearing up degenerative diseases like arthritis.
The point I was trying to make (albeit poorly) is that people who are afraid to cook foods because that kills them are forgetting a basic truth of digestion: that enzymes are not acids or vitamins, and until a food is reduced and broken down by cooking, chewing, and then by stomach/small intestine acids, the enzymes can do nothing at all to release the much-needed nutrients that are the real reason we eat. Put a carrot stick in a glass of enzymes and nothing happens. Put it in a glass of HCL and it dissolves. My recommendations for a weakened digestive system helps someone increase their HCL etc. naturally.
It just gets my goat when people evangelize raw foods and make it sound like we're killing ourselves by heating our foods above 112 degrees, and by not eating fresh veggies all of the time. If that were true, the Eskimos would have never survived through the ages, nor the Chinese, nor the Norse, nor even the sailors in Her Majesty's Royal Navy.
Certainly, ideally, in a warm climate, a semi-healthy person can see great benefits from raw veggies and juice. But most of the people who come here to this forum have not made it to that state yet.
