How can this all build up?

How can all these toxins build up in one's system? I think i've lead quite a healthy lifestyle (with some neglect every now and then, mostly alcohol) and I'm sure you all lead ultra-healthy lives, still I read of toxic bile, stones, foam, chaff and so on, are our liver/kidneys realy these TOXIC dumpsites?
Not that I'm doubting my need to cleanse, it's just ''where did I pick up all this nastiness?''

Oh, one more question, since I'm from overseas, how much is a quart of water? Is it a quarter gallon (about 1,5liters)?
