Re: Dependence on enemas
Hi JeSuisButterfly, that was a very generous offer on your friends part. He is obviously a very considerate fellow. All you would really need though is like an hour or so of private time each day or evening and that would save the expense of the hotel.
How long have you had difficulties with constipation? Is this a recent thing? When did you begin to depend on enemas to stay regular? Is it possibly related to other health difficulties you might have? The younger you are and the more recently you became dependent on enemas, the easier it is going to be to regain natural regularity. But again, some people are just born with weak natural peristalsis, and require assistance throughout their lifetime.
For people who depend on enemas, feeling sluggish is common if they skip even one day, but the pain that you experience is not normal. This is a cause for concern, and I would encourage you to seek a naturopathic physician for advice.
Naturopathic doctors are licensed in 12 states: Alaska, Arizona, Connecticut, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon, Vermont, Utah, and Washington-and have a legal right to practice in Idaho and the District of Columbia. To locate a qualified N.D. in your area, contact the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians at
http://www.naturopathic.org/ or call toll free: 1-866-538-2267.
If your state is not listed above, California does have a state association of naturopathic doctors and their contact information is at
http://www.naturopathic.org/aanp_state_affiliates.htm
I have other tips and ideas on how to retrain your bowel to natural regularity and will follow up here either later today or in the next day or so.
Hope you feel better soon, and have a great trip!
