Are you engaging in regular aerobic physical activity? Unless you have a health condition that precludes vigorous exercise, at your age you should attempt to be as active physically as possible.
You already understand the importance of healthy eating, but what I will offer is that if it comes down to a choice between being constipated or taking an enema, there really isn't any logical choice other than an enema.
The late, famous gastroenterologist Dr. Walter Alvarez once described a patient with chronic constipation who was concerned about becoming a slave to the enema habit. Dr. Alvarez told her "far better the enema habit than the constipation habit".
But in most cases, especially at your age, with a healthy diet, adequate physical activity, and a good night's sleep, you most likely will be able to maintain reasonable regularity. But if you get to 48 hrs without a natural BM, then it's time to consider getting out the enema bag.
