Re: some mild natural laxitives - / Enemas?
Whenever I treat a client who tells me she or he has suffered long-term constipation, and nothing they have tried has worked on a long term basis, I ask if they have tried an enema with the old fashioned enema bag?
Usually the reply I get is something like "I've taken enemas in the past when the constipation was severe, but only when it was really really bad. I didn't want to take them any more often because I was afraid I would become dependent on them".
My response is to remind them of the comment by the late great gastroenterologist Dr. Walter Alvarez while seeing a constipated patient complaining of becoming a slave to the enema habit. His response to her was "Far better the enema habit than the constipation habit".
A gentle cleansing enema is the most natural, predictable and reliable, and effective method available method of dealing with long term severe constipation that I have found. Even if for some people it may become the only way they are able to produce a bowel movement. It's a lot better than being constipated all the time.
