The gas station while you don't go there is a familiar landmark.
The park is similar to the actual one you went to as a child.
People you know but never really talk to--but are also family.
A house you used to visit as child.
These are all familiar to you. Maybe not close to your heart (well, the grandfather but you wrote that you were over it)--but all the same familiar and far more acceptable for you to one day accept the fact that death is the inevitable door we all must go through.
