Stiff neck -- result of colonoscopy?

Andreas, my friend underwent a colonoscopy -- she said that she had various aches and pains in the few days following it -- thinking that they had moved her about. One week after the procedure, she awoke with a very stiff neck and shoulder -- could not move her neck more than an inch and could not put her head back to drink water.

Her Doc has said that it must be some delayed stress about the procedure -- she was very stressed about having it done, but came through with flying colours!

Is it possible that this stiffness (which she says is excruciatingly painful) could be caused by the procedure itself? -- although she drank all of the FLEET that they advised, etc., there would still be old fecal matter on the walls of her colon -- if this were disturbed, could this type of pain result?

She has had this stiffness now for about two weeks; it is slowly easing up, but she is not taking it easy as advised and so aggravates it all of the time.

I would appreciate your thoughts on this -- I find it to be an interesting puzzle.
