Absent half moons indicate poor absorption of proteins or difficulty making it available to the cells. Eating too much protein can congest the basal membranes of the blood vessel walls and prevent essential amino acids from reaching the cell tissues. They may also indicate poor liver performance due to stones impacting the liver bile ducts (the liver synthesizes protein and makes it available to the rest of the body. Poor lung functions and stomach trouble may also be responsible.
