Re: Colosan dependency?

Coloson or similar products are not laxatives. Instead of doing what the colon should do on it's own, laxatives just actually prevent the colon from doing it's work by leaching out minerals and water. With these magnesium oxide products, the intestines are getting cleansed gently by oxidizing the waste and are stimulated instead of getting worn out. This helps them to become more and more actively involved in the bowel movement. However, it is of course better to use food as that stimulant. Colosan is ideally used only as a temporary aid. After an initial cleansing periuod of about 5-7 days, a maintainance program of 2 days per week is good. After a month you could try having it just one day per week until you become able to fully rely on food to keep you regular. Eating your main meal at lunch time and going to sleep at or before 10pm greatly influence bowel functions (see Vata diet in The Key to Health and Rejuvenation).
