Diuretic

Recently started a parasite cleanse. And am drinking a ton of water. I found that when I took one diuretic pill I was assured to start using the restroom for hours. It was a "draining" experience and I could feel alot of toxins exiting.
Which was a scary and hollow feeling. I got no sleep either, but figure that I need to get out the water I'm drinking as well as drink it.
Anyone have any thoughts to share on this?
